The Waste Management company contacted us after their existing business traffic barrier Dewsbury had started to go faulty, they wanted some new eyes to take a look at their system. We sent an engineer down to their Dewsbury site where our engineer noticed that the barrier was failing…

The Waste Management and Recycling business were founded over 100 years ago. With over 195 sites in the UK, they collect over 4.1 million bins per week. With over 72,000 customers nationwide, ranging from small local businesses with a single bin requirement, to large regional businesses that require complex waste services. Starting out in 1912, the business has developed to be more than just waste collectors but now have branched out into recycling, treatment, disposal and energy generation services. Last year the Waste Management company collected over 2.1 million tonnes of waste.

Problems with Traffic Barrier Dewsbury

To enter the Waste Management site in Dewsbury, you have to drive onto a weighbridge. At the other end of the weighbridge was the customers’ existing traffic barrier, preventing unwanted vehicles from entering their site, but also forcing vehicles to be weighed both upon entry and exit. As the customer’s traffic Barrier Dewsbury had started to go faulty, their site was now open, so they needed a repair or replacement quickly, and after discussing the works with our engineer, they realised it would be cost-effective to replace the barrier.

Traffic Barrier Dewsbury Installation

We sent an engineer to take out the existing CAME Traffic Barrier Dewsbury system and replace it with a new up to date system. We installed a heavy-duty business traffic barrier in red, to match the companies branding and for drivers to see and know to stop on the weighbridge. With the addition of lights on the 6m long boom arm and a stop sign, drivers could see the barrier in all types of lighting conditions. We connected the new Traffic Barrier Dewsbury system to their existing business access control systems which included traffic lights. Once a vehicle has been weighed, the lights change to green and force the traffic barrier arm to raise so the vehicle can then enter the site.
