It’s been a busy year here at TI Security as demand for our solutions continues to grow – but our director, Richard Samwell, also took on another big challenge, after receiving a place on the prestigious Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses UK Programme (SBP)…
Started by the worldwide investment banking company back in 2010; the 10k small business program was developed to recognise and support leaders of high-growth small businesses. With just 140 slots available, successful applicants are provided with 100 hours of business and management education, delivered online and through 3 residential sessions; with Oxford University and many other leading business schools as programme partners, it’s no wonder there’s a lot of competition for places.
The programme is to give high performing businesses the tools they need to improve strategy, further expand on their success; and ultimately create employment opportunities. With an already steadily growing workforce; Richard decided this could help him to take TI to the next level as a local and national business.
Making the grade…
While keeping on top of all aspects of our CCTV and business intruder alarm systems, commercial gates and barriers are part of Richard’s everyday job; keeping business moving forward is always a top priority. After submitting his application; it was a pretty anxious wait to see if TI Security would make the grade.
When the news finally arrived to say that Richard had earned a place, the hard work really began; but of course, the team rallied round to ensure that he could meet his new educational obligations.
Richard has been learning, applying, attending workshops and networking with some of the other 60 business leaders on the programme; he’s definitely looking forward to the Christmas break now!
Mission complete!
The course finally culminated in a graduation ceremony held at the British Museum in London; which was attended by Goldman Sachs’ chairman and CEO, Lloyd Blankfein, and Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg L.P.
While placing extra demand on his schedule; Richard was delighted to complete the course and his certificate is ready and waiting to be framed for the office. In his own words, he says: “It was a proud moment when we heard I’d been accepted for the programme, and it’s given me loads of valuable information to help build on TI Security’s strong foundation”.
